Whoosh! Off she goes...

Today I started querying agents for my first manuscript, The Fundraiser.

I have been working on this story since May 2015. Four years of writing, editing, crying on keyboards, rejections, mentorships, courses, hard yakka, learning curves, self-doubt and back ache. Also four years of growing confidence, of friendships made, of honed skill and focused determination.

It is a frightening but necessary act to send your writing out into the world.

A daily reminder on my desk.

When you decide you cannot stare at the words any longer, when you have chopped and tightened and tweaked and beautified as much as you can, you really need to let go and see what will come of it.

There may be a line of rejections, and if so, hopefully they come with feedback to help improve the story. There may be requests to see the full manuscript, and that may or may not lead to a possible offer.

Either way, there’s not much I can do but sit and wait (and maybe start work on Novel #2).

If ever there is a time to inhale confidence & exhale doubt, it is when you click SEND!

Good luck to any other writers or artists exposing their inner souls to the world and hoping they’ll get kindness in return!
