Is there truth to the saying 'Little kids, little problems; big kids, big problems'?

People like to tell you that having little kids equates to little problems. Is that true? I didn't feel like my problems were little when my babies weren't sleeping or gaining enough weight. Now they are bigger, the problems are potentially bigger, or perhaps the problems are just different?
