Launch giveaway ideas - I need your help!

As things rev up for the official release of THE ELEVENTH FLOOR on 31st January 2024, I’m thinking of some things I can give away at the launch and subsequent events.

PROMO IDEAS FOR MY DEBUT BOOK

For my first book, my clever mum suggested that instead of bookmarks, I get some microfibre lens wipes. This worked in two ways: as a spectacles’ cleaner for those of us who need a little assistance in the eye department (and/or a bookmark) or a screen cleaner for Kindle and eBook readers. Brilliant! One was given to each person who purchased a book at my launch (and other events). It was very well received and I feel great joy when I see them floating around now, eighteen months later.

I also designed labels for some bottles of prosecco and a lucky few won those.

WHAT CAN I DO FOR THE ELEVENTH FLOOR?

Thinking about the themes and setting of the new book, I considered options that were hotel related. Given the drama happens in a hotel room, and it is the very incident that sets my protagonist Gracie on a soul-searching, conscience-challenging, fear-inducing nightmare, I was trying to match something to that vibe.

  • I thought a recognisable hotel amenity would be cute: guest soaps, mini body wash, chocolates …

  • Or I could have the ingredients for the cocktails Gracie drinks printed on a card that doubles as a bookmark.

If I skipped that theme altogether, I could just opt for something bookish. Here’s some things I love.

I was also going to have one larger prize for a random attendee.

So now it’s over to YOU!

Tell me what takes your fancy in this list. What other ideas can you come up with for a little something that fits the hotel theme? Or is there something outside the box that you think would be fun? (I just saw that you can get custom branded condoms … no comment). Add your thoughts over on Substack!
